Hailing from the DMV (D.C, Maryland, and Virginia…not the department of motor vehicles), Mika’s work articulately tells the beautiful stories of the human experience. She received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art where she studied Fiber Arts: experimental fashion. Following Undergrad, Mika worked at Center Stage, the Hippodrome, and Rift Art Studio, where she was a co-founder. Her design work included Harry and the Thief (Strand Theater); Animals Out of Paper (Silver Spring Theatre); The Clothesline Muse (National Black Theatre Festival); Much Ado About Nothing (Morgan State University).
At Yale, her design work includes the Afrofuturistic Twelfth Night (Yale Repertory Theatre), Tent Revival and Death of Yazdgerd (Yale School of Drama). Other work includes Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again., In the Red and Brown Water, School Girls, and Firelfies (Yale Cabaret). She earned the Donald and Zorka scholarship in Stage Design in 2017/18.
