Originally from Central Pennsylvania, Matthew received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Costume Design from Boston University. Prior to attending the Yale School of Drama, he worked as a crafts artist for John Kristiansen New York Inc, Parsons-Meares LTD, Glimmerglass Opera, and Boston Ballet.
Yale design credits include Cadillac Crew (Yale Repertory Theatre), Passion, Marty and the Hands That Could (Yale School of Drama), NOVIOS: Part One, The Light Fantastic, and The Apple Tree (Yale Cabaret). Other credits include Julius Caesar, The Tempest, Medea, Anna in the Tropics, The Cripple of Inishmaan, (Stella Adler Studios); Romeo and Juliet, Pericles (Shakespeare Academy at Stratford); Anne Boleyn, Woyzeck, Trestle at Pope Lick Creek(Boston University); and Gods and Kings (The Other Mirror).
Matthew is the recipient of The Donald and Zorka Oenslager Scholarship in Stage Design and The Jay and Rhonda Keene Scholarship for Costume Design.
